Ever received a letter from Heaven?
Jehoram did. A letter from Heaven, from Elijah himself, arrived into the hands of this disobedient King of Judah.
Sounds like good news? It wasn’t.
Elijah writes that God was not pleased with the King: “…You have led Judah and the people of Israel to prostitute themselves…You have murdered your own brothers.” Elijah continues: “So now the Lord is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives and everything that is yours with a heavy blow.” (2 Chronicles 21: 12-15)
We learn later in that same chapter that Elijah’s words come true. The Lord fulfills his promise to Jehoram, the disobedient King of Judah.
The Lord will also fulfill his promise to us. How do we know? We can read about it in a letter from Heaven – well, more particularly, a book.
Inside that book from Heaven is written the very best of good news.
God’s promises are recorded in the Bible, penned by the guidance of the Holy Spirit thru inspired writers. The plan of salvation – our salvation – is revealed thru God’s word. In these last days, we can read of the fulfillment of his plan to restore our souls into his everlasting presence.
He’s faithful to keep his promises.
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)
