Human nature remains largely unchanged over time. That realization quickly dulls the shiny, temporary appeal of cultural movements.
“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” ~Ecclesiastes 1:9.
As a Christian, the standard I lift in the air should be the light of Christ, not a flag of advocacy for cultural or political trends. There may certainly be times of alignment, but that would rather be the exception than the norm.
